A small, spreading evergreen shrub with a dense irregular habit native to arid and semi arid areas of Australia. This is a hardy shrub making it a common choice amongst domestic gardeners.
It has very pretty flowers that grow along the stem from the leaf apex.
The flowers are larger than many of the other species, they tubular flowers have five petals that curve backwards revealing spots and fine hairs on the inner surfaces of the petals. The petal and spot colours vary with each variety, they can be red, yellow, white or pink.
It has linear, lanceolate, grey/green leaves and tubular flowers and prominent spotted throats which appear in profusion for most of the year.
It can tolerate shaded positions but will develop a more open habit. It will also tolerate drought but will develop more flowers and denser foliage with regular watering.
As with so many natives these will encourage birdlife into your garden
