Impatiens New Guinea hybrids are tolerant of full sun, providing they are kept well watered and produce a wonderful array of brightly coloured flowers for most of the year.
They are shrub-like, bushy perennials that have fleshy stems.
The leaves are lance shaped and have a bronze tinge to them (variegated varieties are also available).
The single, flattened flowers appear in summer and autumn and come in a variety of colours, sometimes tinged with white.
The New Guinea Hybrids are probably the most spectacular of the Impatiens and do not self seed as readily as some of the other species available.
