Lygodium japonica is a deciduous climbing fern that will twine around a support to form a dense mass or can trail over the edge of a wall or hanging basket.
It produces a creeping stem and from this grows very long leaves, looking good on a trellis.
It is classified as invasive in some parts of the world and has the additional problem of acting like a fire ladder e.g. when there is fire at ground level it will feed the flames up to the tree canopies.
