A deciduous tree grown for its spectacular blossoms in spring and the edible nuts that follows them. It has narrow, dark green leaves and produces abundant pink or red blossoms that are quite large compared to most prunus species.
The flowers are followed by round hairy fruits in summer that look and feel like small peaches. These fruits eventually split to release the almond kernel. Makes a perfect lawn specimen and edible crop tree. NB. These trees are dioecious, so you will need both a male and female tree if you want them to fruit.
