A low growing annual vine that has fleshy, trailing stems and deeply lobed bright green hairy leaves.
The flowers are bright yellow, five petalled and open faced.
The fruits grow from the base and have an elongated bottle-shape with orange skin, and usually weigh about 3-5Kg when ripe.
The flesh of the Butternut Pumpkin is particularly tasty and is the one most often used for pumpkin soup.
