Carex riparia or Great Pond sedge is a tufted grass-like rhizomatous perennial that has long sword-shaped mid-green leaves rising from a central clump.
Brown flower heads are produced in summer and spring, and they'll usually set seed.
This plant loves wet conditions, so plant them at poolsides, in boggy soils, in wetlands and even shallow ponds.
