Dryopteris affinis or the Golden Male Fern is an attractive fern with long, erect, pale green fronds that emerge from a basal clump.
The midribs, and the stems that bear the fronds, are a lovely rusty brown, which contrasts nicely to the light foliage.
This is a cold hardy fern that is useful for creating texture and habit contrast in shady or semi shaded parts of the garden.
