Overview
Sunflowers are hairy and coarse leaved, upright plants with spectacular brilliant yellow flowers that can be absolutely huge - up to 30cms across in some cases, though others are closer to 8-10 cms.
The open faced flowers are borne singly on long stiff stalks consisting of a circle of daisy like yellow petals with a contrasting brown centre of oil bearing seeds.
