This medium/small herbaceous perennial goes very well in mixed borders adding a native touch to the usually exotic selections that are ever popular.
It has leathery green foliage and feathery, conical, flowers 7-10cms long that are silvery with bright pink tips and are held proudly aloft.
These are very versatile plants being very heat and drought tolerant (undoubtedly because they come from central Australia). This means they can withstand baking in pots on the patio, where many plants will wither and die.
They will withstand a slight frost - largely by going dormant and although it is a perennial, the plant is relatively short lived - probably just a few years, but still worth growing for its spectacular flower heads.
