Rosa rugosa is native to Eastern Asia has deep green, veined foliage, prickly stems .
It has pale pink musky perfumed flowers followed by large bright red hips that look like cherry tomatoes.
Rosa rugosa are quite hardy and very disease resistant, making good low hedges.
They are a suckering shrub, producing new plants from their roots and tend to grow into very dense thickets.
Possibly the oldest of all roses.
Rosa rugosa Scabrosa is a medium sized shrub with spreading form, heavily veined leaves and ultra fragrant magenta to purple, open faced flowers up to 12cms in width. They tend to flower in summer and autumn.
