Barringtonia neo-caledonica is a small ornamental tree from the tropics but will do fairly well in more southerly climates.
It is an extremely attractive garden tree with fissured grey bark and bright green leaves around thirty centimetres long and twelve centimetres wide that turn a deep red over winter - but it is not deciduous.
It also produces long pendulous spikes of fluffy pinkish white flowers.
