Aloe candelabrum has an unbranched trunk and can grow to 3m tall.
A rosette of thick succulent, grey blue leaves with spiny margins grows from the top of the trunk.
As the leaves die they remain attached to the trunk and can either be left giving the trunk a shaggy appearance or removed.
During winter a magnificent flowering stem is produced, it tends to be branched with up to a dozen orange to red flowering spikes.
This shares the same common name with Aloe arborescens
