This a medium to large size shrub growing to about 2.5m tall.
It has prickly holly shaped leaves, the new leaves are a bronze colour and these become a blue green colour as they mature.
From spring to autumn dark pink to cream flowers are borne in cylindrical racemes along the branches.
The prickly nature and density of the foliage makes it a good screen plant. The flowers also attract birds to your garden.
Previously it had only been successfully grown in hot dry conditions of WA.
It is now available in a grafted form from specialist nurseries so can be grown successfully along the humid Eastern Coast of Australia.
