Podalyria sericea is a small erect shrub with a rounded habit and dense foliage.
The leaves are covered with tiny silver hairs giving them a lovely silver sheen, hence the common name Satin Bush. In winter through spring delicate pink pea-shaped flowers are borne along the branches in the leaf axils. The seed pods that follow the flowers are short, swollen and full of seeds.
In their native habitat they grow in sandy and rock soils where the summers are dry and the winters wet. The prefer full sun, do well in coastal conditions and tolerate moderate drought. They are frost tender.
Grow well in mediterranean gardens - use as in border, rockery, can also be grown in large pots.
