Hibiscus pedunculatus is an erect, shrubby perennial that is thinly branched and has coarsely hairy stems and leaves, the latter of which are either three or five lobed.
It produces large single flowers with a drooping habit, that are pink to mauve with a characteristic centre of fused stamen.
Each flower tends to only last for around one day each but the plant will produce flowers for most of the year round - though its main period of blooming is autumn through winter and spring.
They will attract birds, bees and butterflies to your garden and go well in many informal design styles.
