Murraya koenigii or the Curry Leaf Tree is a small tree or medium size shrub with a spreading and rounded habit.
The mid-green compound leaves are aromatic and used in many Indian dishes.
During spring and summer is produces clusters of fragrant creamy white flowers, these are followed by small black berry-like fruit.
Although this is a plant of the tropics it will grow in more temperate area, as a rule if you can grow Murraya paniculata you can grow this.
This is a plant that prefers full sun, warm conditions and well drained soil. It will tolerate light shade, and less well drained soils; once established it will tolerate occasional mild frosts and moderate drought.
Murraya koenigii tends to sucker. The seeds germinate easily and in warmer areas it has the potential to become a bushland weed - check with your council before you plant as in some areas
It can be used in shrubberies and as a hedge if kept pruned. It will also grow successfully in pots if kept small and dense by regular pruning.
