Buddleja crispa or the Himalayan Butterfly Bush is a deciduous, upright and rather bushy shrub that produces racemes of small, lavender flowers throughout summer.
It has oval to triangular shaped that are grey-green in colour and somewhat downy to touch and unlike other Buddleja are deciduous.
Buddleja crispa are not fully frost hardy (even though they do originate from the himalayas) so choose a location that is sheltered from cold winds and mulch well.
They suit courtyard gardens well as they provide plenty of protection, and go particularly well up against walls. They also look particularly good in Mediterranean style gardens.
They are also not fast growers and may take 5-10 years to reach full maturity.
