Fittonia albivenis or the mosaic Plant is a creeping perennial that has lush green leaves that have contrasting veins of white or pink or even red, making for an attractive display.
The stems are rather hairy and the flowers are white to off-white but rather insignificant.
Featuring rooting stems, this plant makes an excellent groundcover for warmer climates or can be used to good effect spilling over the edge of low walls or pot rims. They do however need a fair amount of shade, though can handle some direct sun throughout the day.
For those in cooler climates these plants can be kept outdoors in summer and indoors in winter providing they have a bright location in the house or conservatory. Water from the bottom e.g. allow water to be drawn up from a saucer.
