Aeschynanthus speciosus is a evergreen trailing epiphytic perennial that originates in the rainforests of Bornea. It is happiest growing outside in warm, humid tropical and subtropical areas although in cooler climates it can be grown inside providing there is sufficient natural light.
To make the most of long trailing stems plant in a hanging basket or if growing outside place in the crotch of a tree. The graceful stems are thin but very tough, with pairs of dark green lance shaped leaves along the stem and a terminal whorl of leaves at the tip that surround the flowers. In summer, showy clusters of bright orange, tubular flowers are borne at the end of the stems.
