Nematanthus 'Tropicana' is an evergreen, tropical perennial with small, attractive, glossy, succulent foliage and clusters of unusual, bright orange pouch-shaped flowers that are striped with red.
It has a trailing and spreading habit and therefore goes well in hanging baskets, though in nature it is an epiphyte.
Coming from the rainforests of Brazil they need regular warmth for continual flowering, preferably not below 13c.
Nectar feeding birds find them attractive as the pouch contains plenty of the sweet juice.
This plant is increasingly found in vertical gardens providing dense foliage all year round an splashes of bright orange flowers for many months of the year.
