Euonymous fortunei is a showy, variegated, small evergreen shrub that has rounded leaves with a slight serrated edge.
They are richly emerald green in colour with contrasting creamy white splashes, usually at the edges. These areas have been known to turn slightly pink in winter - but this is a variable feature.
The flowers are rather small, creamy/green and inconspicuous, being produced in summer.
This is a densely branched low shrub which will scramble over low walls if left to its own devices - otherwise it can be kept trimmed and neat providing a striking foliage display all year round.
Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it goes well in city, courtyard and informal cottage style gardens.
