Physoplexis comosa, or the Tufted Horned Rampion is a clump forming, tufted perennial that grows to around to eight cms.
It has toothed, ovate to heart-shaped, dark green foliage and produces dense umbels of dark purple-tipped, lilac-pink flowers that are shaped rather like a glassblower's first attempt at making a bottle.
These are very striking, low growing plants that will be remarked on by all who visit your garden.
Being an Alpine plant, they prefer cooler climates.
