Antirrhinum majus, or Snapdragons are a lovely old fashioned cottage garden annual that will produce flowers in a wide variety of colours right through summer and into autumn.
Colours range from the bright and breezy through to delicate shades - though their soft, complex rounded shapes always add a delicacy to mixed borders.
Best planted in small groups in amongst other summer annuals of similar height, though they can also be effective when planted with foliage only plants for striking colour contrast.
They will flower more profusely if the heads are pinched out as they die off.
