Overview
Liriodendron tulipifera, Tulip Tree is a fast growing and hardy, deciduous tree.
It has unusual, four-lobed, silvery/green leaves that turn golden/yellow in autumn.
It bears greenish to creamy yellow, fragrant flowers with an orange base, followed by brown fruits. It makes a good shade tree and prefers a temperate climate.
Soil: Slightly acid, deep, fertile, well drained but moist soils.
Maintenance: Difficult to transplant
Other Species: One main species though some believe that L. chinese is a species in its own right.
Comments: Makes good cut flowers
