These beautiful gardens surrounded on three sides by the Mahaweli River are just 10km from Kandy.
They were established in the early 1800s while Sri Lanka was a British colony.
Follow the numbered circuit to ensure you see everything.
Don't miss the huge Javan fig whose branches (supported by posts) cover an area of 1600sqm also watch out for the the orchid collection, the bamboos which are astoundingly large and a wonderful collection of palms.
It is quite easy to spend a whole day relaxing in the lush, tropical tranquility of these gardens.

Restaurant The cafe is open from 10am to 5.30 and serves meals and refreshments.
Disabled visitors There are wheelchairs available from the main entrance.
Toilets are located within the grounds. There are plenty of water fountains located in the grounds.
Peradeniya is located 6km out of Kandy on the road to Columbo. It is a short bus trip from Kandy to entrance.
