Ocimum basilicum:
An economical purple basil for micro mix that has a wonderful aroma.
Similar leaf shape and size as Osmin, but less uniform coloration. Mostly purple plants, with 20% variegated or green plants.
Most people love the green and purple color combo for garnishes and cut flower use. Very pretty in the herb garden!
Very much a warm season herb that does not tolerate frosts.
Basil appreciates added organic matter in the soil.
Should be grown in full sun and will rapidly grow in warm weather.
Direct sow in spring, and thin seedlings to 30cm apart.
Keep soil moist, but not wet.
Pinch out seed heads to help prolong life of basil plant.
