Sunflowers are always a bright happy flower. This particular variety makes for a wonderful cut flower.
It grows to a height of 120cm and has bright yellow petals with a dark centre. Is ready to be cut for the vase in approx. 70 days.
The black seeds can be used for sprouting in your kitchen.
Easy to grow from seed. Best to direct sow seeds into the garden in their final position.
Scatter a few seeds in clumps about 50 - 60 cm apart. and thin to one or two seedlings at a later stage. Plants are hardy when established, and require little effort.
If you have wild birds, you may need to protect the sunflower heads.
The growing tips of this plant can be used raw in salad mixes etc or they can be tossed in a stirfry.
Collect the seeds when the flower ripens and the seeds can be eaten after peeling off the shell.
