Brassica oleracea Capitata group - Cabbage Red Acre.
Red Acre produces compact plants with small 15cm round heads of good appearance and excellent flavour. It is split resistant, is one of the best for salads and coleslaw.
The compact heads are perfect for small households. It has a wonderful appearance when cut and sliced.
It is terrific for patio gardening.
Cabbage is closely related to broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts and like these other members of the Brassica genus, requires a fertile soil with good moisture-holding capacity.
Cabbage does not generally do well in hot weather, the best success comes with end of summer through to winter sowings.
Try to keep the pH level above 6.0 with the addition of dolomite, woodash or lime.
A full sun position is advantageous.
