My first post so hoping for some help here. We live in Dongara WA and have planted 10 x Schinus molle to create a wind break. They've been in the ground since April and growing well but getting very long branches and we're wondering if we should be trimming them off now or let them just keep growing. We've had to stake them pretty hard against the southerly wind
Pruning a tree when it is young is all about creating the shape you want. Yes you can prune these branches whilst the trees are young. As they get older, leave the branches and let the trees develop their own weeping character.
