Hi,
I’ve been growing 3 pittosporums in 60cm pots and they’ve become rather woody in the lower half.
I’m about to transplant them into the garden to form a hedge.
With proper care can I expect the woody half to sprout new shoots and thicken up or is it a lost cause?
Well Matt, I'd say that if they are still fairly short then all new growth will sprout above the bare parts. So I'd say its worth the try - unless you want foliage cover down very low - in which case I'd suggest Eleocarpus reticulatus or the BlueBerry Ash.
