For the last 2 - 3 weeks, these caterpillars have been invading my house (about 4 to 6 daily). I have been putting them outside, but this morning I found one in my cutlery drawer! ?? Gross ?? They are usually just crawling on the floor.
I have patches of dead grass, so I guess they are related to that activity?
Hi Vanessa
These insects appear to be a type of millipede/centipede. They tend to feed on decaying organic matter. They can be found through out year in moist, damp, protected area. In the warmer months they can reach plague proportions and invade houses which is what seems to have occurred in your house. Inside the house it is best to vacuum them up, outside clear any accumulating organic matter in dark, damp protected areas close to your house. If you wish to try controlling them with chemicals then Snail baits have been shown to be effective.
