Hi, a lot of my passion fruits are falling off the vine still green and the ones that are ripe seem to have cracks/lines in them. Any advice for what is wrong with my vine? Thanks
Hi Dean
You don't say where you are growing the passionfruit. There are various circumstances that can cause the fruit to drop. A change in the weather from warm to cool and cause the fruit to drop, as the weather becomes warmer and more consistent the problem should right itself.
If you are from a warmer state then the problem could be to be insufficent water, this can lead to fruit falling and the skins cracking. Fungal and bacterial infections can cause the fruit to crack but you would normally see blotches and discolouration on the fruit skin.
Check for signs of infection on fruit and leaves, if the plants seems healthy it is most likely relating to external conditions.
Passionfruit need regular water in summer, the soil needs to be well drained to avoid root rot. Try mulching soil surface and fertilising regularly during the fruiting season.
