Hi. Hoping someone can help. I have cracks in the cement slab of my outdoor area caused by roots. I have some small fruit trees in my yard. But I also have a large gum plus a large Moreton bay fig in the park adjacent to my property. I would like to identify which trees the roots belong to, without digging all the way back to the trees. Ideally I would like to take a sample of the root and have it “dna” tested to identify its type. Does anyone know if this type of service is available ?
I don't know of anywhere you could have the roots tested. However it is highly likely the roots are coming from the Morton Bay Figs, they have been know to cause problems as far as 40m for the trunk. Eucalypts can also be a problem.
