Hello,
I have a Geranium on my balcony with what looks like evidence of a pest?
I have tried a natural remedy of garlic and chillie however that has not worked.
I'm hoping for some suggestions?
Thank you
Not being able to see the problem we can only assume a pest is attacking it - to which I'd suggest a spray with Pyrethrum which is a completely natural product, being derived from plants. it is however effective against a host of small insect pests.
Thanks for the photo. The holes in the leaves and the black deposits indicate caterpillars, caterpillars love geranium. Best biological option for these is Dipel, it contains a naturally occurring microorganism Bacillus thuringiensis, and is caterpillar specific.
Geranium ( zonal pelargoniums) are prone to many fungal diseases, as with all fungal infections remove all the diseased leaves as soon as you see any signs on the leaves, regular inspections are very important in controlling these diseases. Over watering can make the problem, try watering less often and water the soil not the leaves, also make sure there is sufficient air flow around the plant. If you cannot control the fungi by the above methods you will need to use a fungicide, Mancozeb is one option.
